I am Felicia Napier Johnson a retired educator and children’s author. I’m the founder of the company A Shining Light, teaching children life virtues through storybooks, teaching tools and apparel. The title of my first book is “I’m Compassionate! Are You?” My main character Jade, learns a valuable lesson on how to treat her classmate Sincere who is experiencing some challenges in her life. This book is a great resource for Character Education.
Teaching children how to be compassionate is a pathway to decreasing rude, disrespectful and bullying behaviors in the classroom. My goal is to help children change their actions and thoughts by teaching them different strategies on how to be compassionate towards others. I believe if we teach children the value of compassionate behaviors, bullying will decrease in our schools and our communities. As an educator and parent, I believe it is necessary to teach our children compassionate skills resulting in actions that will create a more compassionate world.
